Job Summary:
The project manager oversees and manages structural engineering projects from inception to completion and is responsible for coordinating and supervising project teams, ensuring project objectives are met and delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions to clients. This position requires strong technical expertise in structural engineering, as well as exceptional leadership and project management skills and effective communication and collaboration with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement project drawings/models, schedules and budgets.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ensure that projects adhere to quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
• Conduct regular project meetings to review status, address issues and communicate updates.
• Lead project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Assign tasks, set clear expectations and provide guidance and support to team members.
• Promote professional development by mentoring and coaching junior staff.
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and understand their needs and expectations.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients, addressing their inquiries, concerns and requests.
• Apply advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes and standards.
• Review and approve drawings, models, calculations and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Stay updated with industry advancements, best practices and emerging technologies.
• Monitor and manage project contracts, scope and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Requirements:
• Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related field).
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering project management.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
• Familiarity with industry software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
